Privacy Policy

Scope

This policy applies to all apps published under the VinnyDev developer account on the Root platform (the "apps"), currently Cozy Garden and Word Up Ranked. The apps run inside Root communities. Your Root account itself, including your email address, login credentials, and device permissions, is managed by the Root platform and covered by Root's own privacy policy, not this one.

The apps are personal projects. Although I work at Root, I build and publish them independently, in a personal capacity. They are not created, endorsed, or maintained by Root, and nothing in the apps or in this policy represents Root or speaks on its behalf.

Information the apps receive

Profile information from the Root platform. When you use an app, it receives your platform user ID, nickname, profile picture, and online status from Root. The apps do not receive your email address, phone number, or location, and they do not request device permissions such as camera, microphone, or contacts.

Content and activity in the apps. The apps store what you do in them, such as game progress, scores, and stats, associated with your user ID and community.

Technical information. The apps receive basic technical context from Root (such as device type and theme) so they render correctly.

How information is used

Information is used to operate the apps: displaying your profile to other players, saving your progress, and running shared features such as leaderboards. The apps do not use your information for advertising, and do not contain analytics or advertising SDKs.

Where information is stored

App data is stored in databases and storage hosted by the Root platform, scoped to the community where the app is installed.

Sharing and third parties

The apps are social by design. What you do in shared features is visible to other members of the community where the app is installed, along with your nickname and profile picture.

Beyond that, your information is not shared with third parties. It is not sold, and is not shared with advertisers or data brokers.

Retention and deletion

App data is retained for as long as the app is installed in a community and the data is needed for the app to function. Removing an app from a community removes its data from active use. To request deletion of specific data associated with you, email me or ask in the support community (see Contact).

Security

Data is transmitted between the apps and the Root platform over encrypted connections, and app data is stored in infrastructure managed by the Root platform.

Children's privacy

The apps are not directed at anyone under 16. The Root platform itself requires users to be 16 or older, and no personal information is knowingly collected from anyone under 16 beyond the profile information provided by the Root platform. If you believe a child's personal information has been provided to the apps, reach out by email or in the support community (see Contact) and it will be deleted.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the apps change. Updates are posted on this page with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted in the affected apps.
